Praise is an act of faith.
We are commanded to praise Him continually:
‘Through Jesus we should always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, words that acknowledge him’. God’s word translation
‘Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name’. Amp.
We are not just commanded to praise, we are commanded to do it constantly and at all times. It should also be verbally expressed. It is not just something you think about.
Through him means we have access to God through Jesus. As long as you believe in Jesus, you have access to God to offer your sacrifice of praise.
We should be glad we no longer have to offer animal sacrifices in order to please God as was the case in the old dispensation.
Let’s praise Him.
Let the people praise you O God, then the earth would yield her increase. Psalm 67
If the earth yields increase you benefit. This can equally be your personal life yielding increase.
Praising God is acknowledging that he is above all. He is all knowing, omnipresent.
The choice is ours, we are not forced to do anything but the one that has tried this method is encouraging us to try it.
Praise is uttered, it is not something we just think about. In fact, all spiritual weapons are launched through the mouth. This is why the phrase is always used ‘a closed mouth is a closed destiny’
Let us begin to use our mouth positively to praise God in order to see our land blessed. The blessing of our land is our personal blessing.
Indeed What are you saying with your mouth. A lot has been written about the effect of our words and our thoughts and many are not convinced that this is biblical. Today I want to investigate some of this from the scriptures. And there are a lot but not all wilt of l be covered today.
I create the fruit of the lips Isaiah 57:19
What is your lips producing, is it producing good fruits, good enough for others to eat.
Somebody once said ‘Every time you speak you create your future’, this is so true.
Say to them, As truly as I live, said the LORD, as you have spoken in my ears, so will I do to you: American Standard Version Say unto them, As I live Numbers 14:28
Once again what are you saying?
Do not let your problems dictate what you speak. Speak what you want to see and not what you see. This is what is called creating your world. Yes you can create the world you want to have by ensuring positive words come out of your lips.
We cannot control the thoughts that come into our minds but we are in control of what comes out of our lips. By changing what we speak. negative thoughts do not take residence.
Thank God that he gives you the ability to think right and speak right as the Word says ‘I have the mind of Christ’. 1Cor 2:16
Both life and death are in our tongue and those words come through our lips.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus
‘Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus’ I Thessalonians 5:18.
Be happy always, praying all the time and giving thanks in everything. Wow that takes great faith
No matter what the troubles, pain, excitement, successes and failures, give thanks.
It reminds me of another part of the book that says that the joy of the Lord is our strength. Can merely believing in God give you strength you ask.
If you truly believe in person’s ability to guide you, provide for you Being unthankful as a christian is abnormal. If we ever get to the place of permanently living on ‘grumble ave’ , then something is drastically wrong.
Lastly we rejoice always because we believe that all things are working together for our good!
Many people get rattled by this word righteousness. There is nothing to be worried about. It simply means right standing, morally right, good, upright, justified. If someone is leading me in the right path I sure should be grateful especially if he is my creature.
The only problem is ‘Am I following’ the ‘Chief Navigator’. Can I hear correctly and see clearly where I am being directed to follow. We all have the opportunity to follow without taking detours or diversions. There are lots of daily distractions that prevents us from arriving at our destinations on time and accurately.
Some could be your biases and prejudices, previous knowledge and past experiences. Sometimes we have to silence the inner voice to prevent distractions. Sometimes we have to say no to fears and determine to do or go where we may never thought possible.
I think at this point, I need to say thank you to my navigator, God through his Son Jesus.
I also need to daily ask for the grace to listen right and the grace to see clearly. I also need the grace to discern the people he brings my way and the message they may be carrying.
It also says he’s leading me
for His name’s sake.
His reputation is also at stake. There it is important I am doing all the above to ensure His reputation is intact. I will discuss the various ways of ensuring we follow the right path. This will also depend on individual beliefs and preferences.
It is important to point out that we do not and cannot earn righteousness. It is a gift through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Once made righteousness we should have the capability to ‘do right’ as long as we are following!
A man had died for days. Despite informing Jesus of the death, he did not go straightaway. When he eventually got there, people were already crying and lost hope because the dead had been in the morgue for 4days.
When he got there , he did not pray long prayers. All he said was “Father I thank you for hearing me”. He then gave a command for Lazarus to come out. Lazarus came out.
What is the Lazarus in your life, that situation that ‘stinketh’ and looks like a done deal . You have learned to live with it even though you wish it could change.
Today the master says “Come out” of it. As you believe and confess your life is seeing a change and transformation.
Even the Son of God had to be grateful and acknowledge Him for the situation to change. He says in his word that we can do more than he did. I believe it and it shall be done unto me.
My last post discussed briefly the reason for thanking God in the face of problems.
There is a seed of equivalent benefit in every Adversity. When unpleasant things happen, we receive it with joy expecting that it’s happened for a reason and that something of great benefit can come out of the negative situation.
By acknowledging the situation and being grateful for the opportunity to pass through, the grace to see the reason for the circumstance would be revealed in due course.
We are on a journey in life and not even the bible promised that all will be rosy. It did promise that as we have received the Son, the grace to sail through is given to us.
‘Count it all joy when you fall into various trials or temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience’. James 1:2 It goes on to state that patience produces maturity and contentment.
This is another challenging verse. Our natural reaction is to be angry, disturbed, upset when bad situations arise.
If I lose my job, I should count it all joy? This requires a high level of thinking or maturity .
I thought I’m supposed to avoid difficult situations or cause people who bring such situations into my life. The answer is not avoiding situations or feeling bad when they occur but in asking for the grace to accept such situations as opportunity for growth and development of character.
‘You will not need to fight in this battle, take your position, stand still and see the deliverance of the Lord’ 2 Chronicles 20:17. ‘Fear not, be not dismayed. Go out against them.’
What battles are you facing? What fears are you reluctant to voice out but is slowly eating you up? Remember the definition of FEAR is false evidence appearing real.
If there is an impending battle and a man of war tells you to position yourself but you will not to fight, what would you be worried about?
Can you imagine turning up for battle with not battle gear but with singers. Yes singers on the battlefield.
This can only happen because you believe you believe the fight is not yours to fight.
If you believe, now, give thanks even as you find yourself in the midst of your battlefield!
Should I also be grateful when I have not received?
The answer is clearly yes. I am expectant therefore I am saying thank you for that which I am expecting.
‘Expectation is the mother of manifestations’ as the saying goes.
As the scriptures says ‘as they have spoken, so i will perform’. If we grumble and continually live on grumble alley, we will the eat the fruit of it.
Isaiah 57:19 ‘I create the fruit of the lips’
If we are rejoicing and expectant, even if the exact thing you are expecting doesn’t show up, something better may be in store for which your gratitude would be well worth it.
